MANASSAS, Va.—Manassas police Chief John J. Skinner announced Monday that he will retire May 1.

Skinner, who has been chief of the Manassas Police Department for 12 years, said he might try some golf when he and his wife, Shirley, winter in Phoenix but he’s not sure about that.

WINCHESTER - Wayne Monse landed his first job in law enforcement with the Winchester Police Department -- a career move he says might be his last.

"There's a lot of call volume, but it's a good city," said Monse, who joined as an officer three years ago after serving four years in the Marines. "I'm enjoying it. I'll probably retire from here."
